With the help of the e-mail marketing service, MailChimp, I am able to create engaging html announcements for a variety of audiences. In addition, the service captures data analytics for every e-mail that I send.
What I find most helpful about using an email service is that there is a wealth of data from open rates to number of times an email was opened to the geographical location of activity. This kind of data can tell marketers so much about an email’s performance and provide insight into how we can frame our strategies for the most impact.

I enjoy using a variety of strategies to promote faculty scholarship. One method I find most impactful is e-mail campaigns. The emails below were used to promote our faculty scholarship to U.S. World News Report voters, college faculty, staff, students, donors, and alumni.

Scholarship That Makes A Difference– In this email, I promoted the scholarship of four faculty members as the focus of the postcard. However, I also wanted to create an opportunity for the email recipients to see all of the brilliant scholarship happening at the college. So, I placed a prominent red button that links to the college’s SSRN page. Even though we are highlighting the scholarship of four, it’s still critical to find opportunities where we can share the shine by promoting faculty scholarship at the institution as a whole.
Health Law at Ohio State– In this email, I focused on Professor Zettler completing her first year at the College of Law. It focused on her scholarship placements in prominent publications and media outlets. I also wanted to use the platform to cross-promote the other two prominent faculty studying health law. Being able to package all three of our accomplished scholars together is early seeding for a much longer narrative that health law at Ohio State is making significant contributions to the field.
Sidebar-During my time at Moritz, I transformed our monthly e-newsletter, Sidebar, to include space for faculty scholarship. Previously, it was a collection of college news features and events. By creating space to highlight faculty scholarship, impact, and media mentions, we provide a more comprehensive look at what’s happening at the college every month. The recipients for Sidebar are alumni, faculty, staff, student, donors, and friends of the college.
PACT (Partners Achieving Community Transformation)
In the Autumn of 2015, I worked with PACT to help promote the opening of the Champion Intergenerational Center on the Near East Side. This Save the Date invitation was sent to community leaders and constituents.
The PACT Film Series/Carmen Jones- In the Summer of 2015, PACT launched its first annual film series. The series included a historical and celebrated film, Carmen Jones.
